Are Nike Pants True To Size? (Joggers, Sweatpants, Etc.)

Sharing is caring!

In general, Nike slim-fit pants run small and loose pants run big. So you can say that Nike pants are not true to size for all the styles offered.

The problem with Nike is different regions may have myriad size charts; the two that I am accounted for are Asian and the United States; they are pretty different in measurement. For example, Small in the United States is 26-29 inches, and the S in Asia is 27-28 inches for women. Men’s is 28.5-31 in Asia while 29-32 inches in the US.

Here are my sizing recommendations for Nike pants based on my insights.

What Size Nike Pants Should I get? (My recommendation):

1. Size up in slim-fit Nike pants as they are tight around the waist and do not have much room to breathe for legs.

2. Follow the size chart in standard fit Nike pants or size up to have extra room (subjective choice). In general, they are true to size so sizing up is just a question of taste and comfort type.

3. Always consider getting a size down in loose Nike pants unless they are made of cotton or other natural materials to counter shrinkage. Or, if you love the loose fit, then follow the size chart; though IMO getting a size down will not make it slim; they still will be reasonably flexible.

4. As the name says, oversized Nike pants are bigger than expected. You can consider a size down as legs are a bit long in this genre of Nike pants and also loose and roomier, so keep that in mind before going for the style. For this style, it’s best to try it in stores to check your taste. I also hear some women complain that their waist feels tighter in Nike’s Sportswear Essentials (DD8713-010) [not the case for all]. The surprisingly oversized look is reserved for women and has no pants for men in this style.

5. Oh My God! Nike tights, what can I say; they are true to size and fits tight, as the name says. It all depends on you, the fit you want to try, but If I were you, I would try getting a size bigger if doing yoga or running to allow room to breathe. Never get a size down, as wearing too tight can cause injury or stop blood circulation.

How Are Big Large Nike Pants?

In Nike pants, the large size starts from the L tag and goes up to 4XL. Where size large for men is: 35-38(waist), 41-44(Hip), 32.75(Leg Length), and 4XL in men is: 52.5-57(waist), 53.5-58.5(hip), 33.75(leg length). It also offers different leg lengths for taller people from 6’0″ to 6’5″.

You can check the large size for women in the chart provided in the last of the post. Though, experientially large feels like medium or ‘S’ in a slim fit and tight Nike pants, whereas it fits like extra large in loose and oversize Nike pants.

So consider this before opting for a large in Nike. Yet, it is not just mine, but most people complain that Nike sizes run inconsistent, so you must read individual pants reviews for a better idea. And I bet, for the most part, people will seem to agree with my recommended fit for Nike pants.
