The Fitbit Charge 4 is a first for Fitbit, a first in that it finally added the much-needed GPS feature. While missing, GPS held Fitbit back from evolving its fitness wearables into the competitive atmosphere of industry giants, such as Apple and Samsung. Of course, GPS isn’t the lone feature.

Is the Fitbit Charge 4 waterproof? Yes, The Fitbit Charge 4 is waterproof for up to 50 meters, much like the Versa 2 and Versa Lite. You can technically term it as water resistant since it will give way once the water pressure reaches a specific limit, but unless you are deep-sea diving, you needn’t worry. However, please don’t take the Fitbit charge 4 in salt water as it may damage the interior and likely cause rusting.

Despite the shiny, new GPS feature, the Charge 4 is still primarily a fitness tracker, which is precisely what it does. Since it is water-resistant to such depths, you can wear it while swimming (in a lake, ocean, or pool), in the shower, bathtub, snorkeling, kayaking spending a day at the beach, or taking a dive in a river.

When you can take it for swimming, there’s no reason why charge four will fail during hiking in rain or accidental water spills.

Even on Amazon, every buyer seems satisfied when it comes to swimming, showering, and kayaking with Fitbit Charge 4; some negative reviews see it as a mere tracker and not a complete smartwatch, but all positive when it comes to water resistance.

Whatever you do for fun or fitness in the water, the Charge 4 is always game on.

How Long Can You Swim Underwater With Fitbit Charge 4?

But despite all these things, it is recommended not to swim 50 meters deep for a prolonged period; however, swimming for about 20-40 minutes anywhere between 1 to 30 meters will not do any harm, but as you go deep, the water pressure will increase and thus the time being spent decreases.

I am also saying this because when we swim, our body is constantly moving, especially our hands and legs. Though we wear the Fitbit charge 4 in our hands, it faces un-static water pressure, making it ideal to not swim in the peak depth prescribed for more than a few minutes.

Where Not To Wear The Fitbit Charge 4?

Yes, Fitbit Charge 4 is designed to be swimproof, even though you should not wear it in hot tubs and saunas because, in the long run, it can damage your device and cause skin irritation because of coming into contact with shampoo, conditioner, and soaps. Hence, removing your watch and putting it aside or in a locker before entering the sauna room or a hot tub is better. Hot tub also means hot water springs and pools.

Waterproof Features of the Fitbit Charge 4:

When it comes to the water-based features of the Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit only issues one warning, and that is to make sure that you completely dry the band whenever you are done, as some bands for Fitbit watches—especially one that comes with it—don’t hold water well.

You can find many waterproof bands for the Charge 4 for under $10 on Amazon; however, don’t just go and buy any – do spend some time reading the amazon reviews because Fitbit bands are treated with chemicals that could cause rashes.

The Fitbit Charge 4 keeps track of many health and vital statistics while out on the water, especially if you are doing something strenuous, like swimming laps or trying to beat your previous swim times.
